Cannot delete emails or access folders.
Happened about 3 weeks ago and there is lots of disk space and memory which are listed as the possible causes for the inaccesability; when I try to open the folders for Deleted Items and Drafts.

You may have a damaged identity especially if it is the default Main Identity.
File | Identity | Add New Identity.

General precautions for Outlook Express:
Do not archive mail in the Inbox or Sent Items.
Create your own user defined folders and move the messages you wish to save to them.
Empty Deleted Items folder daily.
Although dbx files have a theoretical capacity of 2GB, I recommend about a 300MB max for
less chance of corruption.

After you are done, follow up by compacting your folders manually while working *offline* and do it often.
Click on Outlook Express at the top of the folder tree so no folders are open.
Then: File | Work Offline (or double click Working Online in the Status Bar).
File | Folder | Compact all folders.
Don't touch anything until the compacting is completed.
Turn off e-mail scanning in your anti-virus program.
It is a redundant layer of protection that eats up CPUs and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs and account setting changes.
Your up-to-date A/V program will continue to protect you sufficiently.

To check for Windows updates. Open Windows Update by clicking the Start button , clicking All Programs, and then clicking Windows Update. In the left pane, click Check for updates, and then wait while Windows looks for the latest updates for your computer. If any updates are found, click Install updates.

Install the latest updates for Windows and for the program displaying the error. Note that the update for the program might be listed as an optional update on the Windows Update page.
