CHKDSK runs on Win 7 BootUp
Every time I boot my Toshiba Satellite laptop with Win 7, CHKDSK states my D: drive is inconsistent and wants to run.
I am using an 80gb drive which is partioned with 37gb on C: drive and the remainder on D:
I have reformatted the partition (NTFS), run chkdsk in Safe Mode with all the "switches" and run defrag umpteen times with no improvement.
I do not wish to remove the registry entry, which has been suggested elsewhere in this forum.
I do not have any USB devices using FAT system attached to my machine.
Can anyone solve this problem for me please?

I have done nothing - Installed nothing - Modified nothing - Uninstalled nothing.
It just went.

Manually editing the Windows registry
Caution: Unless you an advanced PC user, please do not edit the Windows registry manually.

- Click the Start button.
- Type "command" in the search box... DO NOT hit ENTER yet!

- Type "regedit" and hit ENTER.
- In the Registry Editor, select the Error 0x9C-related key (eg. Windows Operating System) you want to back up.

- In the Save In list, select the folder where you want to save the Windows Operating System backup key.
- In the File Name box, type a name for your backup file, such as "Windows Operating System Backup".
- In the Export Range box, be sure that "Selected branch" is selected.

- The file is then saved with a .reg file extension.
- You now have a backup of your MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION-related registry entry.
