Dell Personal 1700 Laser Printer Installation in HomeGroup
My Homegroup consists of two PCs both running Windows 7 (desktop 7 Pro, netbook 7 Home premium).
The Desktop has two usb printers, a Canon i9990 & a Dell Laser Printer 1700. From the Desktop both Printers operate correctly.
From the netbook I can print to the Canon without a problem.
From the netbook I can see the desktop PC, i.e.
open files, etc.
But when installing the Dell as a non-local printer (it shows up in the list of available printers) the process takes 5 min or more looking at Windows Update then finshes staying it cannot connect to the Dell printer..
I have turned firewalls off for both PCs for the Home network. I remain baffled how I can install & print to the Canon but not the Dell!!!

- Have you installed the driver for the Dell printer on your netbook?
