Hi koslof,

Welcome to Microsoft Answers.
I would suggest you to first check if two services -
Volume Shadow Copy and Windows Backup service are running or not.
To check for the services –

Go to Start - Run and type Services.msc then press enter.
Under the Status column look for any entries that read "Starting" rather than "Started".
Check for both the services separately and then close the Services window.

The error code – 0x80070002 is related to “The system cannot find the file specified”.
Check the below mentioned link for file backup resolution.
Perform the steps mentioned related to the error code and then check.
Take precautions in doing
the changes as there are registry editing related steps-
http://blogs.technet.com/filecab/archive/2008/03/12/common-causes-and-solutions-to-backup-system-restore-and-complete-pc-backup-problems-updated.aspx
Perform the steps and check if after changes you are able to do the back up properly.

If you failed to fix it, another option is to call Microsoft and walk through the process with a technician. To do this, dial "1-800-936-5700". Explain the error that you received and the steps in the update process during which it was displayed. The technician will be able to walk through the steps from getting a new product key to finishing the installation.
