After Doing Windows 7 Upgrade computer is not shutting down properly and screen is not turning on when reopening lid
I did the Windows 7 upgrade that I recieved for my brand new HP Computer. Now my computer gets stuck if I go to the correct shut down button it says it's shutting down but it just sits there and never shuts down. I went to sleep and when I woke up 8
hours later it says it was still shutting down so I had to manually turn it off.
Second Issue since doing the windows 7 update. When I close the lid and reopen it to resume my activities the keyboard lights are lit up and it makes a ding sound but my screen never turns back on.
I have to manually turn it off and turn it back on again.
PLEASE HELP!!

Hi Kimmie7936,
Welcome to Microsoft Answers Community Site.
You can perform a clean boot to check if any conflicting / third party application is causing the issue during shutdown.
Steps to perform a clean boot on the computer that is running Windows 7:
1.
Click Start, type msconfig in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Continue.
2.
On the General tab, click Selective Startup.
3.
Under Selective Startup, click to clear the Load Startup Items check box.
4.
Click the Services tab, click to select the Hide All Microsoft Services check box, and then click Disable All.
5.
Click OK.
6.
When you are prompted, click Restart.
If your issue is resolved after performing Clean Boot and then installing the updates, then follow the steps mentioned in the following KB article to narrow down the exact source:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135
IMPORTANT: Also, see the section on how return your computer to a Normal startup mode by following the steps under “Reset the computer to start as usual”.
=============================
For the second issue I would suggest the below options:
1: Check for Power Options:
Step 1: Go into your control panel (start, settings, and control panel) and then go to Power Options.
Step 2: Under "Advanced", adjust the "When I close the lid of my portable computer:" check if the laptop is set for hybrid sleep, if so turn the function off
2: I would also suggest you to download and install the latest video card and chipset drivers from the manufacturer’s website and check if the laptop Lid issue can be resolved.
You could look for Bluetooth devices in the device manager, check if there is any error code in Devices Manager.
For more information check:
Get help with Device Manager Errors
You might have a yellow triangle in Device Manager for an unknown base system device.
If you do, that would probably be the magnetic lid sensor/switch which would be corrected with the correct chipset drivers.
3: if the issue persists I would suggest you to contact the hardware manufacturers for additional support and verify if they have any updates on this issue and if they can help to fix the same.
Let me know if that work.
Good luck!
Hope this information is helpful.
Thanks and Regards,
Vijay KKS
